This post is dedicated to the schoolgirls in Nara, Japan , who made my day special and my sister who made the dress.
There’s a beauty in handmade dresses and some magic at the same time in the fact that they are made with love just for you . I love handmade clothes because they are unique. No-one else will have another one .
My sister made this one and she asked me to take it with me on my trip to Japan. My amazing trip to Japan ,which I will slowly be uploading posts about .
I had promised her ( or she made me promise her) that I will be making a post out of it and so I did! In Japan we were non stop, so finding a place for a photoshoot had to be a quick decision. If it didn’t happen there and then , then it would never happen.
On that day we were visiting the big Buddha in Nara ( must see and coming in a post soon). On our way there from Osaka though everyone kept commenting on the dress and how I looked. ” So cute , so cute” . To be honest , for Japanese standards this dress was standing out quite a bit ( it’s more monochrome in Japan , yet very very stylish) . So the best place we could come up with for a photoshoot was the big courtyard in front of the shrine! I know , I know maybe I shouldn’t have but it was soo beautiful I just had to.
I did manage to make myself quite noticed I guess ( not that its difficult for me – only talking about my loudness here) and these lovely school girls came up to me asking me for a picture . This for me is the best compliment you can get because it’s so pure . I was so excited and they were so excited too! They kept telling me “you’re so cute, so beautiful” . One of the best moments in the trip for sure so for this I am really thankful! Hence why their picture is first in this blogpost!
I combined the dress with a pair of Superstars , ankle socks of course and a traditional Japanese fan! 🙂
If anyone is reading from Japan or from Nara in fact, please share so that it gets to them! So grateful for all the memories, thank you!
Enjoy xx
